Western Guardian

The Eastern Guardian is one of the ancient quasi-living constructs located in the Miato Region. Situated on a small island roughly to the east of Mount Triumph, it is associated with the autumn season and the classical element of air.

The Eastern Guardian bears the serpentine shape of an eastern dragon, coiling around the pillar-like mountain which holds it in a spiral pattern. The island the Eastern Guardian is located on can be reached with the help of a ferryman who lives in Sapphire City. However, getting to the island is not the difficult part - The pillar-like mountain which the Guardian is built within and around is surrounded by an ever-present vortex, a sheer wall of wind which cannot be crossed by normal means or flown into using a Pokémon. The only way to cross the vortex is to possess an item known as the Spirit Wing, which reacts to the energies of the vortex-wall and allows its wielder to be carried by the wind to the entrance into the guardian itself. Fortunately one such Spirit Wing has come into the possession of a certain Gym Leader in his travels, and he will be willing to impart it upon the trainer when the time is right.

Interior

The entrance into the structure lies on a grand marble terrace which the Spirit Wing brings you to when you land - and the tip of the dragon's tail which is curled around it, allowing you to scale it and eventually enter into the structure itself through a gap between "scales". The living marble of the Eastern Guardian is aglow with energy of a violet hue - and while it still maintains the organically curving structure of the other Guardians, it features many pillars and is is the only Guardian to possess significant numbers of windows and passages open to the sky - and the creatures that live within - which include various flying-types and even a few dragons. The non-open-air segments are fairly plain and unadorned saved from checkered patterns of lighter and darker stone on the polished floors, and almost have a lonely air to them. The most prominent encounters in those are patrolling pairs of Soldazza - always moving in pairs of black and white - though on rare encounters one may encounter a few of their evolved forms.

The Heart Chamber

The Eastern Guardian's Heart Chamber, strangely enough, resembles a clearing in a forest of deciduous trees in autumn, in a state of perpetual twilight. It is very quiet, save for the crunching of leaves beneath the trainer's feet - an almost unnatural silence. Here too there are interface nodes and Glyphs, but they seem to be embedded in grey marble - almost like long forgotten graves.

As you approach the Glyph at the center of the chamber, the Glyph's protector - a Falancholy - is released, drawing from the dormant power of the Glyph to both boost its stats and channel the power of its signature move, causing a Gravechill that cannot be overridden with other weather effects to descend on the battlefield for the entire duration of the battle.

Upon defeating the Protector Falancholy, the Glyph may be accessed using the East Stone. The Guardians complete their synchronization and begin a rapid transmission sequence to the Topaz Pyramid, a revisit to which is the trainer's next step.
