Normally skittish, Flarpion are opportunistic hunters that subdue their prey with a complex acidic venom which may cause severe burns. Pigments in their carapace change with exposure to sunlight, triggering color change that helps them blend in with their surroundings.

Biology

Flarpion is a Fire/Poison-Type Pokémon resembling a scorpion. Their carapaces contain photosensitive pigments that change their appearance between daytime and nighttime. In daytime, they are primarily light earth-toned with some dark blue patterns whereas at night they are primarily dark red and black with some lighter red markings. This change of color allows them to blend in with their surroundings and gives them somewhat of an advantage even in hours where they aren't normally active.

Flarpion are opportunistic hunters, feeding on small Pokémon which they seize with their claws and incapacitate with a venomous sting of their Poison Tail - though they may, at times, crush the prey with their claws instead. Flarpion venom is a complex acidic substance that has been described as 'feeling like liquid fire'. It is corrosive and may cause severe burns. Though Flarpion prefers to deliver a physical sting, it may occasionally spray its acidic venom to neutralize attackers as it makes an escape.
