Helioryx's imposing figure has made it both feared and respected among ancient civilizations. In springtime, Helioryx have been spotted engaged in ritualistic battles with each other. It is believed that these battles are fought over mates.

Biology

Helioryx is a bipedal, mammalian Fire/Ground-Type Pokémon resembling an anthropomorphic goat antelope. Like its previous forms, Helioryx's body is covered in orange and cream fur with a dark reddish-brown line separating them. The cream underside hue now also covers its shoulder and the top side of its arms up to the elbows, as well as most of the inner part of its leg, its hands' fingers and the tip of its tail. Still having the distinctive patches on its forehead and flanks, a large golden patch now covers its back, and patches exist on the back of its hands as well.

Helioryx's horns are long and have a somewhat twisted shape.

Helioryx possesses a humanlike shape, its hands differentiated into humanlike, five-fingered hands (though these are still tipped with hooflike nails composed of the same dense crystalline material of its horns and more standard looking leg hooves). This new stance and manual dexterity allows it a greater diversity in its ways of manipulating its surroundings - and in combat.

With the addition to its fiery beard and tail, Helioryx produces powerfully-burning flames from its wrists. While these may take the form of blazing flame trails used for display and in courtship, they are often focused in such a form that they may be used as blades. These Flame Blades are Helioryx's primary weapon in combat - and coupled with its powerful legs, crystalline horns and its Ground-type derived affinity for triggering Earthquakes renders Helioryx a fearsome foe.

Helioryx tend to live in rather loosely associated groups, the males among which tend to engage in complex, dance-like ritualistic combat in springtime - an act that involves circling each other, locking horns, flaring up their flames and crossing their Flame Blades until a victor is determined and his opponent surrenders.

Name Meaning

A combination of 'Helios', the personification of the Sun in Greek mythology, and 'Oryx'.

Origin of Design

Helioryx is based on a humanoid goat, with elements of other goat-antelopes.

Locations

Due to their nature as an evolved starter form, Helioryx are not found in the wild.
