Lapis City is a city located in the northern landmass of the Miato Region.

Description

Lapis City is a major port city, with all that entails - a lighthouse, piers, a boardwalk as well as some seaside resorts and a ferry line connecting the city with its sister-port on the southern Landmass, Amethyst City. As the story advances, ferry lines also open connecting Lapis City to Sapphire City and Peridot Town.

Status as a port aside, its relative proximity to Azure Valley makes it a home base of sorts for many researchers of the Crystal type. Many buildings in this town sport roofs of an ultramarine hue.

Places of Interest

Lapis City Clock Tower

The Clock Tower stood in Lapis City for hundreds of years, the sound of its bells and its illuminated face becoming an iconic symbol of the city over its lifespan. Somehow the clock remains impeccably accurate whilst requiring very little maintenance in spite of its age. While some credit this to the innovative (for its time) mechanism that powers the clock, there are rumors that elements of the design were in fact appropriated and re-purposed from ancient technology found in ruins that once stood on the site where the clock tower now stands.

Access to the interior of the clock tower is generally limited for the average trainer, but a certain side quest may open access to the clock tower itself - where one may encounter various Pokémon such as Klink, Klang, Hoothoot, Noctowl, Bronzong and Litwick.

Lapis City Gym

The Lapis City Gym features several rooms of polished white marble veined with Azure Valley minerals softly glowing with their own light. You can faintly see your reflection in the walls, but not perfectly. The gym has several rooms, and features several puzzles involving the turning of mirrors and prisms to guide a ray of light from one side of a room to another, where an optical receptor harnesses the energy of the light beam to open the door. In the final room - a circular room with walls covered with inter-growths of multicolored crystals - stands Erol, the gym leader. He will bestow the Jewel Badge on those challengers who defeat him and his Crystal-type Pokémon.
