Biology

Steelix native to Azure Valley, as with their previous evolution, have lost their Ground-type attribute and acquired Crystal-type instead.

While their previous forms seem to have traits of the mineral they have been named after, Azure Valley Steelix appear to have taken on the qualities of elemental Bismuth (albeit far stronger and more durable) - their carapace is largely a silvery-white color, with a faint iridescence that is barely noticable on the main body segments, but particularly noticable on spikes and outgrowths - and surface cracks formed due to excessive heat - which tend to form hopper-crystal structures that oxidise into a rainbow sheen. Azure Valley Steelix also lack the broad, massively spaced teeth of their more common cousins, rather featuring rows of interlocking, grooved sharp crystalline teeth that move against each other for better crushing rocks.

Due to their genetic divergence from the natural line, Azure Valley Steelix do not respond to Steelixite and therefore cannot Mega Evolve.

Locations

The Azure Valley subspecies of Steelix can be rarely found tunneling through the earth in the deepest cavernous sections of Azure Valley, though those may only become available post-game. One can obtain one in-game by evolving an Azure Valley Onix.
