Biology
Mergeyser is a Water and Fire-Type Pokémon. It bears a broad resemblance to Golduck in so much as it is a bipedal vaguely-avian creature - though it tends to take a stance that is somewhat lower to the ground and its proportions are somewhat different, giving it a more dinosaurian appearance than its counterpart. Its head, torso and arms are covered in black filamentous plumes, with some white patches in the general vicinity of the head, the shoulders and a the neck, whereas the underside appears to be exposed, covered in thick skin that bears a colorful banded pattern. The beak is narrow, serrated, and predominantly orange though it still displays some banding like that of its previous form. The eyes are red, and a small horn - derived perhaps from the gem-like structure that adorns the head of Golduck - projects from the head between and slightly above them. A reddish-orange gular sac presenting slight translucency is present on the chest - and has been observed to swell with boiling water which Mergeyser then projects forcefully through its bill when it uses Scald. The arms are long and tipped with webbed, clawed digits which appear to sport some manner of heated patches. Several tube-like structures resembling geothermal vents project from the elbows. Two rows of similar structures line the creature's back, gradually reducing in size into a series of vaguely rocky scales that line the top of the tail. Steam billows out of these tube-like structures, and while at rest these clouds of steam are fairly faint, Mergeyser may also emit large bursts of pressurized steam through them in order to launch itself forwards at high velocities or to augment the momentum of punches.
Like their previous forms, Mergeyser frequent hot springs - however, they are more likely to be present near larger volcanic lakes, where prey they find more desirable - fish, bug and occasionally crustacean Pokémon - may be had. Some specimens have even been sighted as far as the coastline, predominantly around the coast formed by Mount Ravuori's long-since-inactive lava delta.
Name Meaning
A combination of merganser and geyser.
Origin of Design
Mergeyser draws some elements of its design from some species of merganser, predominantly the red-breasted merganser, though its appearance draws on some more loosely dinosaurian traits.
Locations
Psyduck are predominantly found near hot springs and volcanic lakes.
