Needlynx are solitary predators that inhabit high altitude coniferous forests. Though they have been spotted climbing trees on occasion, they hunt on the ground only, their thick coat and the needle-like growths emerging from it camouflaging them among the rocks, snow and fallen conifer needles.

Biology
Needlynx is a mammalian Grass/Ice-Type Pokémon resembling a lynx. Its body is covered with a thick coat of grey and white fur. Growths similar to conifer needles emerge from the sides of its face (acting as whiskers), the sides of its forelegs and its back. These needles grow and are shed constantly when they become too long. They can grow rather quickly and are rather sharp, which allows Needlynx to use them to attack its foes with its characteristic Needle Shot attack.
They are solitary creatures and tend to stick to snowy conifer forests where their fur and needles can serve as a form of camouflage. They sometimes hunt by ambush and sometimes actively seek out prey, varying their tactics when necessary. Though they usually prefer to conserve energy and are not cut out for long chases, they are still rather speedy creatures in short bursts - and have been known to reach some rather extreme speeds in pursuit of prey. They may climb trees on occasion, but they hunt solely on the ground, using the terrain to their advantage.
Name Meaning
A combination of 'needle' and 'lynx'.
Origin of Design
Needlynx is based on a Lynx (the Canada Lynx in particular) and conifer needles.
Locations
Needlynx can be found in the snowy conifer forests of Obsidian Ridge.
