Calamarine are infamous for their aggressiveness, although how justified that reputation may be is a matter of some debate. Current research seems to indicate this aggression is only displayed while hunting and attacks on human divers may have been provoked by mistakenly identifying flashing lights or reflective gear as the species' natural feeding frenzy signals.

Biology
Calamarine is a Water/Psychic-Type Pokémon resembling a squid. Like their previous form, their favored color configuration is a reddish head, a mottled golden-brown mantle and black-and-orange fins.
Calamarine are social creatures, often traveling in large groups. They rapidly swim thanks to a combination of jet propulsion and powerful undulating tail fins. Though normally docile, curious and intelligent, there is a darker side to Calamarine - their hunting behaviour is particularly aggressive, and hunting packs have been known to fly into feeding frenzies that may even extend to weaker members of their own pack. When in such a frenzy, they are known to rapidly change their colors, flickering between a paler white to a deep red, and the strength of their attacks appear to increase the more damage they land. Calamarine appear to hunt closer to the surface at night and deeper into the water at day. They approach prey with their appendages extended forward, and upon reaching striking distance they rapidly launch two long tentacles covered in suckers ringed with sharp teeth, ensnaring their prey and pulling it towards a powerful beak that they use to tear the prey apart.
Name Meaning
A combination of 'calamari' and 'marine'.
Origin of Design
Calamarine is based on the Humboldt Squid.
Locations
Calamarine can be found in various water routes while surfing - though on later routes and less frequently than one could find Cuttendril. They are more common at night.
