The distinctive triangular markings on Triinu's forehead, shoulders and flanks appear black to human eyes, but have some degree of ultraviolet iridescence varying between individuals. Triinu are nocturnal, spending daytime in burrows.

Biology

Triinu is a quadrupedal Ground-Type mammalian Pokémon resembling a small canine. Its body is largely covered with a thick brown coat, slightly lighter on the face and underside. There are triangular markings of black fur on its body, as well as black stripes just above its paws, along its tail and framing its eyes. These markings shine under ultra-violet light, and subtle variations exist between individuals.

Triinu are nocturnal hunters, spending the day in burrows and hunting small Pokémon during the night.

Name Meaning

A combination of 'tri' and 'inu', the Japanese word for dog.

Origin of Design

Triinu is based on a small canine creature. It closely resembles the icon for the Field egg group in Generation 2.
