At night, the plant on its tail snatches flying insects and eats them, providing more energy for Flowehawk. In return, Flowehawk protects it and shares its energy with it. The claws on its wings allow it to climb relentlessly to places it cannot fly to.

Biology

Flowehawk is a large avian Grass/Flying-Type Pokémon resembling a cross between a bird of paradise and a predatory bird, with the same ancestral proto-avian traits typical to its line. Like its previous forms, most of its body is covered in yellow-colored plumage, with lighter plumage along the chest. Unlike its previous form, though, Flowehawk's head possesses a distinctive crest of anther-like plumes, with two longer feather crests over its eyebrow ridges. The baubels at the end of its antennae are now tipped with small, hook-like spines. A small mane of leaves is found on the back of its neck, and a row of small, scaly 'bumps' project from the sides of its neck.

Flowehawk's wings are similar to those of its previous form, with petal-like primaries and secondaries and leaf-like coverts. However, they are larger, and the rest of the wing is once again covered in yellow plumes. Much like the rest of their line, they have wing-claws allowing them to climb to places they cannot fly with ease.

Emerging from the fan of leaves that makes up Flowehawk's tail are four long antennae-like organs tipped with red baubles. From the center of the fan projects a vine tipped with a flower-like appendage, possibly a result of a symbiosis that integrated into the species as it evolved. The flower-like appendage snatches up small flying bug-types that pass by in the manner of a venus flytrap (it is possible that the tail-antennae have a sensory function related to this plant). This supplements Flowehawk's metabolic requirements in locations or times it cannot photosynthesize.

Like the rest of their family, they are diurnal. They still occasionally feed on fruit but they are now primarily carnivorous, feeding on smaller Pokémon.

Name Meaning

A combination of 'flower' and 'hawk'.

Origin of Design

Flowehawk is based on birds-of-paradise and diurnal birds of prey (primarily Accipitridae with some traits of ancestral proto-avian maniraptorans.

Locations

Wild Flowehawks can be found on the Rainforest Island.
