Floravis stands on branches and spreads its large wings, using the chlorophyll in them and in the leaves on its tail to synthesize nutrients for its body. When it flies, the friction of the air with its antennae charges them with static electricity.

Biology

Floravis is an avian Grass/Flying-Type Pokémon resembling in many ways a Bird-of-paradise, though it still retains its ancestral proto-avian traits. Like its previous form, most of its body is covered in yellow-colored plumage, with lighter plumage along the chest. However, its wing plumage is mostly green with leaf-like primary and secondary coverts and purple petal-like primaries and secondaries. Its tail is crowned with a series of long leaves. The leaves and wings display photosynthetic qualities. They also retain their antennae, which seem to have acquired an affinity for storing static electricity. Floravis uses this for defensive purposes - when charged up enough it may be possible for it to emit a weak Thunder Wave.

Like their previous form, Floravis are diurnally-active and largely arboreal. Upon evolution, Floravis lose their affinity for seeds and become slightly more predatory - though they still often feed on fruit, and their photosynthetic capability also provides them with nutrients.

Name Meaning

A combination of 'flora', the latin term for the plant life of a particular region and 'avis', the latin word for 'bird'.

Origin of Design

Solardove is based on various type of birds-of-paradise with some traits of ancestral proto-avian maniraptorans.
