Biology
Arbithunder is a Grass and Electric-Type Pokémon resembling a tree. The outer bark of its trunk appears to have been split and charred by a lightning strike, giving it the appearance of a robe with a high, flared collar. Some areas of the bark are covered in patches of moss and shelf mushrooms, and some parts of its body demonstrate lightning damage and stunted (if not downright halted) growth, giving it an asymmetrical appearance. The Pokémon's head has an appearance not unlike that of an old man, adorned with a thick beard and mane of mosses and lichens which extends both into and out of the cavity in its trunk. The top of the head appears to be hollow and contains a core of cackling lightning energies – similar in color and luminosity to that of its eyes, set in black sclera as with its previous form. Horn-like branches project from its forehead - one stunted and the other vibrant and flourishing, sprouting pinnate leaves and red berries resembling those of a Rowan tree. Arbithunder ambulates about on an array of four root-like limbs which move about in a manner which resemble a frog's. The smaller forelimbs are capable of posturing and grasping, and are often used to do so while the creature leans most its weight on the hindlimbs, typically rooting them into the ground. Another pair of limbs grows higher up along its body - one stunted (on the opposite side of the body to the stunted horn) whereas the other is fully formed and tipped with curving tendrils used for grasping, with which it holds the feature most closely associated with its species - a great wooden hammer with a head that bears a resemblance to a judge's gavel.
Like their previous Levinome stage, Arbithunder subsist on a combination of photosynthesis and electric current - deriving most of their charge from lightning strikes, which they draw down using their hammers. Typically, they retain the peaceful, benevolent nature they demonstrated as Levinome – though their former mischievous streak is supplanted by wisdom, experience, and a deeper sense of communion with their forest homes and the creatures they share it with – traits which they often aid them in mediating conflicts that threaten to escalate to disastrous ends. Arbithunder are very slow to anger — but woe betide any who provoke their tranquil fury, as the justice that they impart upon those they deem are deserving of it is swift and harsh.
Name Meaning
A combination of arbiter and thunder.
Origin of Design
Arbithunder's design draws inspiration from trees that have been split by lightning and yet survived and recovered, from judges, and from Scandinavian thunder deities - predominantly the Finnish Ukko and his association with rowan trees. It also draws inspiration from the primal Ramuh as portrayed in Final Fantasy XIV.
Locations
Wild Arbithunder can be found in the deeper parts of Glasmöntull forest.
