Biology

Carbright is a small Fairy-Type Pokémon, resembling a mammal with both catlike traits and foxlike traits, with a luminous, light-blue and fluffy coat, long tufted ears and a three-pronged tail. A scintillating red gem appears to adorn its forehead. Though it bears a superficially close resemblance to an Eevee, the two species have virtually nothing else in common.

Most of what is known about Carbright is known from specimens in captivity, as the creatures are exceptionally elusive in the wild, occasionally appearing in the most unexpected of places before vanishing without a trace a moment later. Carbright appears to possess some unusual quirk of anatomy wherein the majority of their body appears to have very little elemental affinity of its own (save for the gem atop their head, which has a strong affinity with the Fairy type), acting rather as a conductor and amplifier to outside energy sources. By attuning the internal geometries of their energy flow to those contained in specially prepared, elementally-charged gemstones, Carbright can shift their entire elemental spectra and take on the traits of other types in addition to the Fairy-type. Three stable configurations have been confirmed so far, each bearing its own unique modifiers to the creature's appearance and to the elemental expression of its Gemshine.

Aside from the unusual elemental nature of their body, Carbright appear to have a keen sense for finding gemstones - and ones harboring a strong elemental charge in particular. Indeed, more than one folk tale recounts the story of an intrepid individual who followed the trail of a small, luminous creature to find the creature gone but discover a trove of precious jewels (and quite often, the fierce battle against the guardians of such treasures).

Name Meaning

A combination of carbuncle' and 'bright'.

Origin of Design

Carbright is inspired by the mythological carbuncle of South American mythology, and is directly based on the portrayal of the creatures found in Final Fantasy XIV as an Arcanist/Summoner's pet.

Locations

Though they sporadically appear in unusual locations in the wild, Carbright appear to predominantly be associated with Reise Academy, where they are entrusted to new trainers.
