Description
The user focuses energy into the gem on its forehead, making it shine a brilliant light. The power and effect of this move changes based on the Arcane Gemstone the user is holding.
Effects
The type, base power and secondary effects of Gemshine change under the following circumstances.
When holding an Arcane Ruby
Gemshine becomes a Fire-type move with a base power of 120.
On the turn it is selected, Gemshine raises a barrier of red light which reduces damage from both physical and special moves by half (or by a multiplier of 2732/4096 to the user and all allies in case of a battle other than a single battle) and begins to charge. This barrier can be active at the same time as , or , but the damage reduction effects do not stack. As with other barrier effects, Gemshine's barrier does not reduce damage done through confusion, critical hits, or moves that deal direct damage - and likewise, it can be broken through the effects of Brick Break, Defog, Psychic Fangs, Raging Bull, or the Screen Cleaner ability, and Pokémon with the Infiltrator can ignore its effects while attacking.
On the following turn, the move will inflict damage, and the barrier fades away immediately.
When holding an Arcane Topaz
Gemshine becomes a Ground-type move with a base power of 45.
The move hits two times, and the second hit has an increased critical hit ratio.
When holding an Arcane Emerald
Gemshine becomes a Fire-type move with a base power of 120. Upon use, the move lays down a barrier that reduces damage done to the user and its allies by 50%, and charges up for one turn. On the next turn, the move inflicts its damage and the barrier fades away.
