Petrify is a non-damaging Rock-type move.

Description

The user regards the opponent with a glare, slowly turning them to stone.

Effects

On the first turn this attack is used, Petrify adds the Rock type to the target, in addition to the Pokémon's original type(s). If it is used against a dual-type Pokémon, that Pokémon will have three types at once. If the target already has an additional type added to it by Trick-or-Treat or Forest's Curse, that type is replaced with the Rock type. Petrify will fail if the target is already a Rock-type. From this point on, the target's speed will be reduced by one point at the end of each subsequent turn until it cannot be lowered anymore. On the third turn, the target's type shall be changed to pure Rock-type.

The effect lasts as long as the target remains in battle; however, changing form or transforming overrides the effect.

This attack will not fail when used on Pokémon with Multitype or RKS System. It will fail when used against a target behind a Substitute.
