Biology

Raichu native to Syona have acquired Fighting-type traits and a gladiatorial style of combat. For the most part, Syonan Raichu resemble their Kantonian kin. Their ears are more elaborate, the pinna of each ear consisting of three segments which can be moved semi-independently - they can be folded in on each other, fan out for display purposes, or have their directions slightly adjusted to orient on sounds better. Each segment of the ear is tipped with a luminescent node. The brownish-orange fur covering its upper body and forming a skirt of overlapping, vaguely lightning-bolt-shaped plates over its legs can be stiffened into a resilient sheet when charged with electricity, as can the lightning-bolt shape at the tip of their tails - more jagged and with a sharper edge than those of a Kantonian Raichu - which they use as a sword, usually held in their right hand.

The left hand supports an amber-hued gem which serves as a generator and anchor point for one of Syonan Raichu's signature attributes, the Tesla Targe. This round energy shield is composed of electricity and serves to both deflect and absorb attacks. Once it absorbed enough energy from taking an enemy's attacks, the energy may be used to augment Raichu's own attacks.

Evolving a Pikachu with a Thunder Stone in the Syona region will result in a Syonan Form Raichu.
