Obsidian Ridge is a mountain range on Miato's southern landmass.
Description
Miato's tallest mountain range, the Obsidian Ridge takes up at least half of the southern landmass, forming impressive sea-cliffs near Amethyst City. Deeper into the ridge the mountains form an alpine climate area filled with snow and coniferous trees.
Role in the plot
Only parts of the Obsidian Ridge may be accessed by the player, via Articuno Rescue Force missions. Serving as the ground team, the player would traverse a procedurally-generated map featuring multiple elevations, snowy barriers, conifers and assorted hazards that may require the help of Pokémon to clear in search of a lost trainer. A minimap and general directions will be provided by Ken, who will be monitoring the situation from his helicopter. Some items and Pokémon may only be found through these missions.
A Flaaffy that levels up here may evolve into Blizargali.
Wild Pokémon
The creatures that may be found in the Obsidian Ridge are typical creatures that would be native to alpine climes. Here you may find wild Needlynx and Blizargali, as well as other species such as Snover, Abomasnow, Cryogonal and roving packs of Sneasel. Rarely, a Braviary soars these great heights - and scattered reports of Jynx have been heard, but not confirmed.
